About us

A movement built from one dollar.

With A Dollar exists to show how a small gift can create real change for vulnerable children in Uganda — meals, school supplies, and a path back into the classroom.

Our story

We walked into Namuwongo — one of Kampala's most underserved communities — expecting hunger. We left understanding hope.

We brought hot meals that day. Children lined up patiently, plates were filled, and stomachs quieted. But when we sat with the parents afterwards, the conversation surprised us. They didn't ask for more food. They asked for school.

"Please — help our children stay in school."

That's the day With A Dollar became more than a feeding program. We added school supplies, tuition support, and tutoring — built on the smallest gift anyone can give.

Our mission

To make giving radically accessible — so anyone, anywhere, can change a child's life with the smallest gift in their pocket. Every dollar funds meals, school supplies, and learning for children in underserved Ugandan communities.

Our values

  • Dignity — every child, every parent, every story.
  • Transparency — receipts, photos, named line items.
  • Local first — Ugandan staff lead Ugandan programs.
  • Small but mighty — $1 is welcome here.

Where we work

Our home base is Namuwongo, an informal settlement in Kampala where thousands of children live without consistent meals or school access. From here, we've expanded to 14 nearby communities — and we're just getting started.
